Live recognition

Raise your phone. The names land on the ridges.

Camera, compass and real terrain work together: every visible summit gets its label, in the right place, with its elevation and distance. A stabilisation filter removes the shake of your hand.

A computed panorama, not a photo

Altika rebuilds the terrain around you from elevation data, then draws the horizon as a line. You recognise the ridge in front of you — and you finally know what you are looking at.

Climb in altitude with one gesture to see past a ridge, or change the date and time to know where the sun — or the moon — will be.

Corrected compass

Magnetic declination is applied from your position, and you can fine-tune the alignment by hand when a pylon or a concrete balcony disturbs the sensor.

Summits, passes, lakes, huts

Not just peaks: mountain passes, named lakes and mountain huts show up too, each with its own symbol.

Sun and moon

Rise and set times at the chosen viewpoint, the moon phase, and the sun's path drawn across the panorama.

Open the camera and sweep the horizon: every visible summit gets its label, anchored to its ridge, with elevation and distance. Not a map to decode — the real landscape, annotated.

Record an outing

The track is drawn live as you walk. The pause triggers itself when you stop, and the timer freezes if GPS drops rather than counting thin air.

Elevation gain that holds up

On arrival, elevation gain is recomputed from the real terrain instead of raw GPS altitude, which drifts by tens of metres under trees or on a cliff.

The trailhead, then the summit

Every route gives you driving access to the trailhead, and every summit along the way opens its own page: elevation, distance, photo and 3D view.

Nearly a million summits

Altika doesn't stop at the Alps. The Rif, the Atlas, the Andes, the Himalaya, the Rockies: nearly a million named summits, with their elevation, distance and bearing from wherever you are.

Search forgives typos, keeps your favourites, and every page gives coordinates, prominence where it is known, a photo where one exists, and GPX or KML export.

Offline first

Mountains have no signal. Neither does the app need one.

Download an area before you leave: terrain, summits and routes stay on the phone. Everything keeps working in flight mode, deep in a valley, or abroad without a data plan.

Downloadable areas

The world is cut into 13,014 areas. You take only the ones you need, a few dozen megabytes each.

Your outings stay yours

Recorded tracks live on the phone. No account is needed to walk, record and read back an outing.

The terrain, not just the map

Downloaded elevations feed the panorama, the elevation-gain calculation and summit recognition, with no signal whatsoever.

Out there

Open, look, go

The home screen shows what matters the moment you open the app: hikes starting nearby, the summits in view, and direct access to live recognition.

Everything else — panorama, augmented reality, 3D flyover — takes the full screen on a dark background, readable in bright sun as well as at dusk.

The same flyover, two skins: line-drawn terrain, or the satellite photo draped over the relief. Take off from the summit, circle it, come back down — and the names stay pinned to the ridges.

Imagery comes from Sentinel-2, the European satellite. It is prepared ahead of time for mountain ranges, then kept on the device: once a flyover has loaded, it replays with no signal at all.

No route in mind? Create a loop traces a walk that leaves from where you stand and brings you back, along real trails — not a straight line on a map.

The Hikes screen gathers everything else: search the verified routes, draw your own on foot, by bike or MTB, import a GPX from another app, or simply set off and let the track record itself.

Where the data comes from

Altika builds on open sources, credited and verifiable. No personal data is needed to name a summit.
